Hi y’all…
How you keeping? Its been a long time!
I’m so excited about today. Blogging has been a crazy journey for me, and I can hardly believe that as of today I’ve actually written 100 posts. Yeah, yeah…it took me about 6 years to get to 100 posts but WHAAAAAAT?!! A whole 100 posts by me?!?!?! WHO’D HAVE THUNK? If you figure each post averages roughly 500 words, that’s around 50,000 words I’ve sent out into the Internet void…sounds cute.
So, to celebrate, I want to share with you a bit of my blogging journey, and some fun (or not so fun) facts about me as a person and about my blog….and I have exciting news that I will share at the end of the post – so keep reading honey.
I did take it to my WA status a while back asking for ideas on what to blog about for my 100th post and oh boy were they not so deep and personal ideas. See, this is a personal blog and its everything about me and by me but I can’t bring my mjolo (relationship) on here, nah, or my deepest secrets and some shockers which I have lately been doing. Maybe some other time, but now is definitely not the right time.
Instead, I have decided to keep it light.
My blogging experience
I have had this blog for years, since June 2015 to be precise and this was a result of a workshop that I attended, having been referred by my darling brother. I honestly don’t remember which organization was hosting that blogging workshop but I do remember Thembi Terry being the one who took us through the process of signing up on wordpress and taught us about the whole blogging shebang. Do check out her amazing blog. I remember thinking this girl is a skhokho and I will be like her one day, teaching and inspiring others. 6 years later, that day still hasn’t come but I am certain it will.
I have always loved writing, having started during my secondary school days and this was mostly done during church services. Do not judge a girl – sleeping in church was punishable and writing was my saviour. Bantwana be John Tallach wazzzzup? I have a lot of unpublished short stories in my name and God knows what happened to those babies. I enjoy blogging because I am free. I can write what I want, when I want and how I want. I have no limitations. And this is what made me go the personal blog route – to share the happenings of my life, and to have a place to share my random musings about life, the universe and everything.
At the beginning, I was devoted to it then life happened and I stopped for a long time buuuuut, Stella got her groove back and sis ain’t going nowhere, oh so I pray.
What’s next?
I have way too many ideas that really excite me, and too little time and money (of course money is always in the mix), but I have some great aces up my sleeve.
So on the nuts and bolts side of things, I’m currently working on something and I don’t want to share as yet, but soon…I don’t want to count my chicks before the eggs hatch – or however that saying goes. This is still all in the pipeline and I hope my vision will come true pretty soon. What this also means is that there will be more work, I don’t know how the lazy bum in me feels but I am sure we will make it work. So here is to my 100thpost, six years later and to a 100 more. I am expecting gifts, thank you! And of course, here is to growth of this baby and thank you for being a part of it.
And today I want to challenge myself, to try new things in my personal life that I usually wouldn’t do or would be scared to do – I don’t know what yet, I haven’t thought that far. I figure if I can write and blog my opinions and hope you will make time to read them (because that is some scary sh*t to do) then I can do other things that scare me too.
With this being said, in no particular order: here are my top 5 favourite posts from the previous 99:
