Heyyy lovelies…
I hate to do this again, but I am so sorry for being mia. I promise I am not dropping the ball, but between this terrible heat, a job, zero inspiration and the never-ending stresses of life…the going is tough.
Recently a friend asked me why l haven’t blogged and l realised I’ve been slacking. Also l like it when y’all get concerned, makes me feel good and l do appreciate it. It’s not most of you 😂 but l do appreciate the few who ask.
l won’t be long. This is a check-in post; to find out how you’re doing. So, really, how are you? I hope you’re living the most wherever you are and definitely doing the most.
I, I am doing okay; I guess. October was an exciting month for me. Nothing much happened but the few activities that did happen were soooo heart warming for me. The highlight has to be celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday at our rural home, Kezi. I will refer to him as Mr Father.
Mr Father’s birthday is on the 10th of July but for one major reason, celebrations were put on to later in the year because father hates winter. If there’s a word that you can use that is deeper than ‘hate’ then its probably the right one. I hate winter too, so much, I guess I took it from him. So, holding off the celebrations to October made sense.

The event came in three parts – a home commissioning, a book launch and 70th birthday celebration. Packed day it was. Packed in terms of events for the day and the number of people who came through. It was awesome. In as much as I am happy it wasn’t in winter, the heat was terrible, MY GOD! It was so hot, I don’t know how many litres of water I had that day.
The day was a happy one but mostly emotional for me. Listening to every speaker and seeing everyone there to celebrate a man I call father was heart-warming. Friends from his school days, our relatives and my siblings – all had beautiful things to say about him.

What I also got from one of the speeches was that father was naughty when growing up, bunking school to chill in the bush and so much more…which explains my suspension in high school – but we are not here for that.
You can read this article by Bruce Ndlovu from Sunday News and learn what he had to say about the event.
So, I have been in relationships (serious or not, doesn’t matter) from as young as grade 6, yes! And as I got older, even if we never spoke about it, I knew my father knew I associated with boys, mjolo wise. I am sure he did think about it, right? So, I got in a serious relationship (unbelievable even for me😂) and it has gotten so serious that parents had to be involved😬. JESUS! I would like to believe I am of the right age but still, this is my father and I felt, kind of still do feel weird about it. So there’s this as well…he met the guy anondi pinza chando muviri😌 (I wouldn’t trust my Shona spellings also)

Also, you know this freelancing game is such a sport. I think from the beginning of the year I got only two editing gigs…ONLY TWO. I honestly don’t know how y’all expect me to survive if you don’t hire me. But October was such a good month bringing in editing jobs and that translates to work but you know what it also translates to…Shmoney and a good portfolio and possibly more clients if I do an excellent job, so it’s a WIN.
Its only been 2 days into November but it feels loooong…hope the month brings with it some goodness, I could do with some.
That’s it from me…what you been up to lately and what’s been happening in your life lately, good things; I hope?
If where you are its as hot as where I am, please drink water…HYDRATE! HYADRATE! HYDRATE!
xxx
