Where has this year gone to? No really, where has it gone? How are we already in July now?
Oh, hi…
We are six months down the year and I have decided to catch you up on what’s been happening. Maybe consider this a life update? Ps:- I am currently listening to Bill Withers’ ‘Lovely day’ someone I was introduced to by someone a while back…may his soul continue to Rest In Peace, Bill’s that is.
I haven’t been up to much really but this is what I got up to in the past six months:
Got started on my manuscript: I am working on my second novel and beginning of the year I was so into it. I got much done but life got in the way and I wasn’t in the writing space anymore and it lasted longer than I expected. But you’ll be happy to know that Stella got her groove back and I’m back on the horse.
I hanged with a friend. I hanged with friends of course through out the months but this particular one has to get a mention. See, I met Laureen in high school, 2012…gosh I’m ollllld! And we been good friends since. Might be good to mention that she was my sleeping buddy in class and more… read here. Baby girl moved in 2015 I think, visited her once in 2017 or was it 18? I don’t quite remember and since then I got to see her again this year when she came home…before she moved, again!!!! Ours will forever be a long distance relationship. It was great spending time together, talking boys and everything boys (not only that of course).
Laureen and I somewhere in the Matopo bush
In April, I Fikile Nomadlozi Nyathi for the first time in my life traveled 6hrs by bus for a boy, now husband . It was all worth it, ask me why and I will tell you. I actually had a whole blog post on this but nah…that will have to be my story. (Inserts picture with boy).
So there’s that as well, in the first six months of this year, there’s been a boy and he ain’t going no where (fingers crossed).
I did some freelance work but I am hoping for more work in the last six months of the year; sis’ got to enhance that editorial portfolio and for the money, of course the shmoney!
Do not hesitate to hit a girl up…for business purposes
I read books. I’ve so far read Dudu Busani Dube’s Hlomu the wife, Jackie Phamotse’s Bare the Blesser’s game and Solomon Northup’s Twelve years a slave (which reminds me of a bet I made with someone). Currently I am reading Half of yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, I adore that woman.
I’m sure at this point we’re all aware of my poor photography skills, thou shall not judge a girl. Also, this image is an inside joke (I was reading twelve years a slave here)
I watched films but my memory won’t do right by me. I remember though, I watched A quiet place and l probably remember because it’s a horror and that’s weirdly one of my favorite genres or maybe because I watched it with someone’s son. Looking forward to watching part II. I am currently obsessing over an old series, brothers and sisters (that’s the title of the series)…I blame my sister!
I’m not sure if I left something out, I probably did but I guess it’s not that important.
In the first six months of 2021, there’s been some productivity, some fun, the good and of course the bad and there’s definitely been some shocking events. You know the ‘is this really me?!’ kind of shock? It’s unbelievable and exciting and makes you nervous kind? Yeah that one…
