Well, hello there readers! Today l bring you delicious news.
What fun staff do you and your bff get up to? I think mine and I eat a lot more than anything, I mean what else is there to do in Bulawayo? If we’re not at an arts event (which hasn’t been happening because of covid), we are at a movie house (which happens like once in a blue moon), or we having a sleepover or we are having them draaaaanks. But really, almost all the time we are eating out.
So last week we tried the new joint in the city, Chicken hut and Coffee Republik. Located at Imbali mall by R.G Mugabe between 8th and 9thavenue. The place opened recently, hasn’t been over 4 months; I think.
Aesthetics
It’s a small nice and clean corner space.
Service
Service at Chicken hut was quite good. When we got there, there was a lil bit of drama with a man who I am not sure but I think was drunk out of his mind making all sorts of drama. His stunt took a good two good minutes, disturbing us from going through the menu and placing our order. The menu is good, with lots of meals and sides to choose from. Wraps, burgers, chips & chicken meals, salads…you name it.
Food
Now, getting to my favourite part; eating! The food was aaaaaah-mazing. I wasn’t expecting it to be that good honestly but it was. A very much welcome different taste to the city! I ordered wings and chips and BFF got a chicken wrap…but of course we both had a taste of everything, I mean! The wings! Oh the wings! I appreciate those full wings.
The wrap! Oh so juicy and spicy. Yum. There was enough of everything, you could see the chicken strips, the lettuce, the tomatoes (yuck!)…I have forgotten what else was in it, sorry. Did I mention juicy? The sauce is so delicious. Whatever that sauce is, amazeballs! And there was enough of it, dripping all over me, I couldn’t help but lick. Size matters, for sure and it was big and it did hit the spot.

l love fresh chips. Always have, always will. I find it really hard to order something without chips. I enjoyed their chips, and I am not being bias. Also, they cut them differently and they have their own taste. I am yet to go back and verify for sure that that is how they make them and that day was not a mistake. Chips from different places taste different and are cut different, Nandos, Steers, KFC, Chicken Mastaz…they don’t taste the same and there’s a new taste in town which I highly recommend.
For beverages, Coffee republik was the port of call, located in the same space. Bff wanted us to try the chocolate coffee what what (please take this as a hint that l would make a terrible reviewer and how bad my memory sucks) but because they didn’t have it in decaf I had to miss out. Their service almost got on our nerves, more BFF than me. You’d expect the person serving you to know what’s there and what’s not and for them to communicate it to you so that you know your options. But, we not here for that. I then got what they call a strawberry blaze smoothie. I have had better smoothies. Its like it missed something, and felt (to the tongue) and tasted more on the milkshake side than a smoothie. But the coffee thing, oh yes! Its called the frappuccino (sp), which BFF got, was worth every dollar!

Besides the amazing food, I enjoyed the company. My bff is one cool person to hang with and it had been a while since we last hanged so you can imagine the amount of gossip and catching up that happened.
Do I recommend that you check the place out? Hell yeah!
DISCLAIMER: I am not a food reviewer, just a girl who tried a new joint and liked it. Thanks
