John Green did not sugar-coat cancer and I know this because literally a year after watching TFIOS for the first time I lived for almost a year with someone with cancer – a family member.

I do not know anyone who loves or is addicted to the movie The Fault in our stars like me, I don’t. If you do, have you met me? I even dream the movie sometimes! That’s what my life has come to.
I watched the movie for the first time around mid-year 2014 and I have never stopped. This is because I know no better told teenage love story which beats TFIOS, tell me which one and I will probably have a thousand reasons to defend my choice. The relationship between Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters is one of the most adorable, wittiest and most honest on-screen relationship I have ever seen and to see that coming from teenagers, Gaaad! I don’t know what else beats that. John Green did not sugar-coat cancer and I know this because literally a year after watching TFIOS for the first time I lived for almost a year with someone with cancer – a family member. He revealed the real side of it, that part where Hazel Grace refers to herself as a grenade which could explode any minute…that shit is real. The two love birds who are battling a disease, sure can have fun and there are funny scenes in the movie which still crack me up which is a reminder to me that l could be going through the pits but l can still have fun and smile through the storm. Back to their relationship, they have the most open relationship and that is the most beautiful thing one can ever watch. To me they are friends first before they are lovers. Also, each time Gus says “Hazel Grace” when he calls her, I get butterflies. Lastly, I love the ending, that Gus is the one who dies because I honestly expected Hazel Grace to die first (I love you Hazel Grace, OKAY?) and that would have made TFIOS an almost predictable movie. Bonus point worthy of noting is that when Gus died, he was no longer a cherry-boy (virgin) and it’s all thanks to Hazel Grace!!! She done did turn a boy into a man LOL.
